Green Dream
Green Chemistry
Scranton Honors Program
in the Scranton College, Ewha Womans University
Only a selected number of outstanding students could be admitted to enter the program as a freshmen with an open major. In the 2nd year, I selected Chemistry as a main major along with 'Digital Humanities' as a double major in this program.
I took special courses provided by the Scranton Honors Program, which could have not been possible in other departments or universities in Korea.
-
Writing and Discussion, an advanced English course only for the Scrantons, helped me to develop my English skill needed to become a global leader.
-
Thinking and Writing, Critical Thinking and Moral Theories, Global and Intercultural Identities, Special Topics in Science, Science for Leaders, Special Topics in Social Science and Honors Thesis all trained me to recognize societal, moral, and/or environmental problems, think from various perspectives, have critical discussions with colleagues, and deliver my opinions in essays or presentations in English.
In addition, I took different kinds of courses such as Psychology, Economics, Media Design, and Programming as my self-designed double major. Usually, taking any courses that I'm interested in, crossing over different departments is limited in Korea. Fortunately, however, I could do it in the Scranton Honors program. I came to find my interests and goals and keep broadening curiosities about human nature and societal problems. I also learned how to present my thoughts and improving them.
